The only people I know doing news are people running commercial nntp
services. For my own froup requirements, I have been using Eternal
September (http://www.eternal-september.org) for some time, which has
been fine for my largely lurking use patern, but it doesn't carry any of
the binary groups, so if that's your bag then you'll need to point the
client to one of the specialist services.
