You might have the autoconf manual a few keystrokes away and not even 
realize it.
One of the problems I find with unix is the plethora of commands. 
Learning even a fraction is a problem due to the feast of plenty :-)

Looking at this page, I wondered why autoconf didn't come with a manual 
rather than going to the web. A little investigation revealed that it 
does.

"info autoconf" brings up the whole manual starting with the index page.

Scrolling down a few pages in the index leads to the manual page 
Vance mentions below.
