1. you have to have an approved phone model.  No Chinese brands, as I 
understand it.  I use a Pixel 8.

2. (if I remember correctly!) you have to turn it on in your phone and in 
a Freedom control panel for your account.

4.(anecdote) we have an old Pixel (3??) that my son got with Google Fi 
when he worked for Google in the US.  Google Fi is a proprietary cell 
phone service that would use WiFi.  This has firmware from Google Fi.  So: 
it is one of the first phones to support cellular service over WiFi but 
Freedom doesn't seem to support it.
